Before we dive in, we want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to each and every one of you! (Even if you already celebrated back in March). We know your celebrations are going to look a lot different this year, but we’re hoping you feel the love and appreciation all the same.
Mother’s Day always gives us pause to think about the wild ride that being a mama brings us on. Usually, we get to focus on all the good things, with extra snuggles, and maybe a little breakfast in bed thrown in — and that’s how it should be! But we also try to take time to reflect on everything it taught us in the past year:
All the unexpected times it pushed us out of our comfort zone and into growth;
All the frustrating times it broke us down and left us crying in our closets;
And all the countless times it gave us the strength to rise again.
So that got us thinking… what has motherhood taught you in the past year? If you had the chance to go back one year and give the old you one piece of advice, what would it be?
We asked you that exact question about a week ago and your responses were too good not to share. So, our Mother’s Day gift to you isn’t from us at all. It’s from your tribe of Baby2Body mamas all over the world: words of wisdom and the advice they wish they’d been given one year ago…
You wanted to encourage yourself to live just a little bit healthier
Don’t stop exercising, you can do it!
Exercise while you’re pregnant
Stop eating so much sugar…
As far as working out: start small, but start NOW
Stick with the healthy eating!
Focus on your life, your physical and mental health
Start getting healthy for pregnancy before you get pregnant
You wanted to give yourself some helpful tips
Try to be a little more organized with everything
Don’t buy so many baby clothes or toys and save your money!
Stop stressing about work so much, it will be there the next day
Freeze some healthy meals before you give birth!
You’ll be sick until 17 weeks and then feel a lot better!
Ask for help more often
Brace up girl… change is coming!
And above all, you just wanted to give yourself some words of loving support:
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and say when you need a break
You’ve got this!
Live in your truth and stop letting others dictate your direction in life
Let it go
Don’t listen to what other people say and think about yourself a little more often — you will get there in the end
Trust in life
It’s going to be really hard, but it will pass sooner than you expected
Embrace and love your body
It will all get better and you’ll miss those days
Enjoy the moment
Relax and trust the timing of things
Deep breath: somehow you’ll work from home with a toddler while growing a tiny human…
We can’t think of a better teacher than motherhood itself, and even if we’re not always the best students, we sure are doing our best. We’re so thankful to have you all in this incredible community, a space where you can learn from each other and teach other as we navigate this motherhood ride together.
We’d love to know what advice you would give yourself one year ago. Please share in the comments below or join the conversation on our Instagram. It might just be the thing someone else needs to hear right now.
