How have you been faring this holiday season, mama? We find this time of year brings a mix of joy, anxiety, gratitude and stress wrapped up in a package almost as pretty as those under the tree. It can be confusing and exhausting for sure – but ultimately we want you to relax and enjoy the festive season – that’s what it’s all about! Trust us, we know that it can be hard to find relaxing downtime with the combination of travel, shopping, parties, and the neverending buzz of Christmastime activities; but we’ve got something special to help you through it!
We’ve picked five of our favorite essential oils to help you stay healthy, invigorated, and as stress-free as possible this holiday season. Each one serves a slightly different purpose, so use them as needed! Good news too: these essential oils are all safe for use during pregnancy. However, if pregnant, it’s best to avoid applying any oils directly to your skin as they are highly concentrated. Placing a few drops of your chosen essential oil in a diffuser will do the trick though! If you don’t have a diffuser at home, we really love this one.
Essential Oils for the Holidays
Wild orange: This essential oil stimulates and purifies at the same time, and delivers a wide array of health benefits. In particular, it will give your immune system a boost and keep you feeling awake. Citrus oils are known for being energizing and wild orange is suited for those days when you need a bit of a boost.
Lavender: Craving a night of peaceful sleep? Lavender is the answer. This oil will help ease feelings of tension while providing a calming and relaxing atmosphere to help you unwind and drift off to a blissful sleep. Perfect to help you catch some good shut-eye before things really get busy.
Bergamot: If you’re craving a bit of balance, this is the essential oil for you. Bergamot is calming and soothing and will help you unwind – but it’s unique in that it also has an uplifting quality to it to give you a welcome breath of energy. Balance is always needed this time of year and this is the best oil to help you achieve it.
Peppermint: Almost all holidays have one thing in common: hearty meals around a dinner table. There’s also the seemingly endless temptation of sweet treats this time of year, and this oil will help see you through it. Peppermint oil is noted for helping with digestion so you can feel your best. It can also improve breathing and naturally repels bugs to help you avoid catching a cold over Christmas break.
Frankincense: We had to include this one on the list as the smell itself instantly conjures up that warm, Hygge-like sensation of the holidays. Frankincense will be your go-to oil when you’re looking for some peace, relaxation, overall wellness, and satisfaction; isn’t that what we’re all after this time of year?
As we’re nearing the end of 2017, it’s good to take time for reflection on the year past and build excitement for the year to come.
